Tips for a Great Season!

Classes have officially started at Xtreme! We are so excited for everything that is happening in Season 7!

To make the most out of your classes, here are a few tips to help get you moving in the right direction:

  • Always come prepared in the proper attire. Coming to class in the right dance clothing not only makes everyone look uniform, but it allows your teacher to ensure you are dancing safely and gives her the ability to make corrections.

  • Bring a water bottle. Always, always come to class with a bottle of water. Whether you are going to dance class or music class, water is essential! Keep hydrated to avoid feeling tired, sick, or having a dry, sore throat. Forgot yours? No problem! We have water bottles available for purchase in our Snack Barre in the lounge.

  • Show up 10 minutes early. Think of it this way - if you are early, you are on time and if you are on time, you are late. It's always best to come to class 10-15 minutes early so you can put your belongings in a cubby in the lounge, get changed if needed, and, of course, catch up with your friends before class starts. Most importantly, showing up late to a dance class and missing the warm-up is unsafe and you may be asked to sit out. It's also disrespectful to your teacher to walk in to the class late.

  • Bring your XDW Booklet. At your first class you will be given an XDW booklet with important dates and a bit of space to jot down a quick note or reminder. Be sure to bring it with you every week to each class.

  • Pick up after yourself. Please do not leave any garbage lying around or leave personal belongings at the studio.

  • Bring a snack. If you are at the studio for multiple classes, be sure to bring a quick snack with you that you can have between classes. It's extremely important to have the proper nutrition to avoid exhaustion, excess hunger, low energy, or even fainting. Snacks are available for purchase in the Snack Barre.

  • Thank your teacher. After each class, be sure to thank your music or dance teacher. Bowing or curtsying is an added respect custom.

  • Practice. Take time each day to practice what you are learning each week. The best way to improve is to write down any corrections your teacher has given you and to apply them and practice them. Memorize that song you are working on or that combination you did across the floor. Always strive to do your very best!
